The Atlantic Health Promotion Research Centre (AHPRC) is based at Dalhousie University in Halifax Nova Scotia. The mission of the Atlantic Health Promotion Research Centre is to conduct and facilitate health promotion research that informs policy and practice and contributes to the health and well-being of Canadians with a special focus on Atlantic Canada.

The Cemtre has twelve faculty-based Research Associates whose research projects are funded by agencies such as CIHR, SSHRC, Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada, Public Health Agency of Canada and the Nova Scotia Health Research Foundation.

AGREE is an international collaboration of researchers and policy makers who seek to improve the quality and effectiveness of clinical practice guidelines by establishing a shared framework for their development, reporting and assessment.

The Association of Public Health Epidemiologists in Ontario is an organization of approximately 75 full members who practice epidemiology in Ontario's public health units, as well as more than 100 affiliate members.

"A capacity-building project grant led by Renée Lyons of the Atlantic Health Promotion Research Centre (AHPRC) at Dalhousie University, and funded by the CIHR, Institute of Population and Public Health has developed two associated networks:
• Public Health Research and Knowledge Translation (PHRKT) Network
• aims to produce and use research evidence to support the improvement of public health and the restructuring of public health systems in Atlantic
Canada through research development, training and knowledge translation.
• Health and Communities Research Network
• aims to develop research capacity in Atlantic Canada related to the development and use of community-level data to clarify impacts of social and physical environments on health."

• provides its members with unique opportunities for networking, research collaboration and career advancement;

The Canadian Association of Continuing Health Education is a forum for knowledge exchange and collaboration among healthcare stakeholders for professional and systems development to improve patient outcomes. 

Le Portail canadien des pratiques exemplaires est une base de données dotée des interventions en matière de santé communautaire et de santé de la population. Les interventions se trouvant dans le Portail ont été évaluées, elles se sont avérées efficaces et elles peuvent être adaptées et reproduites par d’autres professionnels de la santé publique travaillant dans des domaines semblables.
Voici les principales composantes du Portail :
• catalogue des sites d’examen systématique des pratiques exemplaires, comme la Campbell Collaboration, le Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care et la Cochrane Library (tous en anglais seulement);
• base de données, avec moteur de recherche, des interventions communautaires;
• ressources pour aider à atteindre des objectifs en matière de planification de la santé publique, de prévention des maladies chroniques et de promotion de la santé. Ces ressources sont organisées selon les sept étapes de la santé publique fondée sur des données probantes du Centre de collaboration nationale des méthodes et outils.
