Canadian Best Practices Portal for Health Promotion and Chronic Disease Prevention
The Canadian Best Practices Portal is a searchable database of community and population health interventions related to chronic disease prevention and health promotion. Interventions on the Portal have been rigorously evaluated, shown to be successful, and have the potential to be adapted and replicated by other public health practitioners working in similar fields.
The Portal’s main components are:
• a catalogue of best practice systematic review sites from organizations such as The Campbell Collaboration, Canadian Task Force on Preventive Health Care and The Cochrane Library.
• a searchable database of community level interventions; and
• resources to help reach public health planning, chronic disease prevention and health promotion goals. These resources are organized according to the National Collaborating Centre for Methods and Tools seven steps of Evidence-Informed Public Health.

Canadian Cochrane Centre
The Canadian Cochrane Centre, registered in August 1993, is one of 13 independent, not-for-profit Cochrane Centres worldwide. The CCC is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
The CCC is located at the Institute for Population Health at the University of Ottawa. We support the activities of over 2,067 members of The Cochrane Collaboration in Canada to promote the Collaboration, The Cochrane Library and evidence-based health care in Canada. We collaborate with health professional organizations, health researchers, health technology assessment groups, national consumer associations, governments and other interested groups in order to achieve this goal.
Acting as the central contact point for the Collaboration within Canada, Centre staff aim to:
•Develop relationships with partner organizations in Canada,
•Facilitate national and international linkages,
•Coordinate training activities across Canada, and
•Promote awareness, access and use of Cochrane reviews.
We have a partnership of representatives from Canadian universities, health professional organizations, government agencies and consumer groups; essentially the membership of Cochrane located in Canada.
