How do you know if a systematic review has been done well?

As a public health or other health care professional, you want to make decisions informed by the best available research evidence. In public health, that evidence may be in the form of a systematic review. Before using a systematic review, you may need to know more about the parts of a review, and where to focus your attention to assess the review’s quality.

Learn what to look for and where to find it in a systematic review with this new resource developed by the National Collaborating Centre for Methods and Tools so you can quickly and easily find the information you need to complete the critical appraisal process.

What are systematic reviews?

Systematic reviews have a clearly formulated question and use systematic and explicit methods to identify, select and critically appraise relevant research, and to collect and analyze data from the studies that are included in the review.

How can the Anatomy of a Systematic Review Fact Sheet help you?

The NCCMT’s Anatomy of a Systematic Review Fact Sheet identifies the parts that make up a systematic review and which sections commonly contain the information you need to complete your critical appraisal.
