This tool assesses an organization’s decision making by examining the decision as well as the decision-making process. It identifies steps, issues and successes in using evidence to inform public health decisions. Lessons learned from the process are captured with practical suggestions for improving the decision-making process and future decisions.

Steps for Using Method/Tool

The tool consists of five sections:

  1. Issue description
  2. Final decision made
  3. Decision process description
  4. Lessons learned
  5. Recommendations for future decision making

These summaries are written by the NCCMT to condense and to provide an overview of the resources listed in the Registry of Methods and Tools and to give suggestions for their use in a public health context. For more information on individual methods and tools included in the review, please consult the authors/developers of the original resources.
