Resources to build capacity for the Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada: Release 2.0

The National Collaborating Centres for Public Health, with funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada, engaged extensively with the Canadian public health community to develop the Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada: Release 2.0. Core competencies are the essential knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for the practice of public health.

The final document, available in French and English, includes 64 core competency statements organized into ten categories.

The NCCMT’s Competency Mapping Tool was developed to help busy practitioners find the many resources that support the Core Competencies for Public Health in Canada: Release 2.0. Use this tool to plan professional development activities tailored to you and your team’s needs.

How to Use the Tool

Select a category to see a list of core competencies.  Hover over the “” icon for a description.  Select any combination of core competencies to generate a list of resources that can help you develop your skills in these areas.
