Webinar 8: How do young people make sense of cannabis evidence?

The session will take a small group discussion-based approach to understanding critical appraisal. Participants will be expected to read the session’s article in advance and be open to engaging in a discussion on the topic.

Join us for an opportunity to learn about cohort study design and understanding regression analysis!

Hosts: Dr. Donna Ciliska, Senior KT Advisor with the   NCCMT

Featured article:

Moffatt, B.M., Jenkins, E.K., Johnson, J.L. (2013). Weeding out the information: an ethnographic approach to exploring how young people make sense of evidence on cannabis. Harm Reduction Journal, 10, 34. DOI: 10.1186/1477-7517-10-34 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4176499/pdf/1477-7517-10-34.pdf

Critical appraisal tool: We will use the CASP Tool for Qualitative Studies: https://casp-uk.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/CASP-Qualitative-Checklist.pdf.

Be sure to download the PDF version of the article and tool prior to the webinar.

Online Journal Club fundamentals: Participation is limited to allow for and encourage small-group discussion. Our goal is to have very interactive 1.5 hour sessions, so the groups will be kept fairly small.

By signing up for this webinar, you agree to:

  • Read the journal article in question prior to the webinar; and
  • Be prepared to actively contribute to the discussion.

Remember, you do not need to be correct (we are all here to learn!), but you must be willing to share your opinions and judgements with other Online Journal Club participants.
