This toolkit is designed to help individuals conduct a highly reliable and standardized implementation research project. It aids in identifying barriers to implementation; formulating the research question; making a case for funding; setting up a study design with appropriate methodologies; planning a project (budget, personnel, timelines, monitoring and evaluation); collecting, analyzing and presenting research information; developing a dissemination plan; and monitoring and evaluating a research project.

Steps for Using Method/Tool

This toolkit includes case studies and seven modules:

  2. Understanding implementation research
  3. Developing an implementation research proposal
  4. Research methods and data management
  5. Implementation research planning and conducting implementation research
  6. Implementation research communications and advocacy
  7. Integrating implementation research into the health system

These summaries are written by the NCCMT to condense and to provide an overview of the resources listed in the Registry of Methods and Tools and to give suggestions for their use in a public health context.
