This practical guide is designed to help organizations implement national standards for health promotion and the prevention and treatment of illness. It identifies six elements for successful implementation:

  1. Broad support for clear leadership
  2. A facilitator to coordinate implementation
  3. A multi-disciplinary decision-making team responsible for all areas of implementation
  4. A systematic and sustainable financial plan
  5. A systematic approach to implementation
  6. An evaluation process

Steps for Using Method/Tool

The guide leads users through the following process:

  1. Assess if the guidance is relevant.
  2. Identify a public health leader.
  3. Carry out a baseline assessment to identify areas of change.
  4. Assess the cost using a costing template.
  5. Develop an action plan.
  6. Disseminate and implement the plan.
  7. Review and monitor the results.
